Level 4 Certificate in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (33 credits) CTLLS Course
Bright Level 4 CTLLS is the equivalent of First Part DTLLS
About the course
The CTLLS qualification is required for those carrying out an Associate Teacher Role. An associate teaching role means a teaching role that carries significantly less responsibilities ordinarily carried out in a full teaching role such as curriculum development. If you are working at or aiming for full teacher role, you need to complete DTLLS.
Entry Requirements
You must be aged 19 or over and have sound literacy and numeracy skills. You also need access to 30 hours teaching.
Unlike other training providers, our CTLLS teaching course fees are all inclusive with no hidden costs for things like travel and observations. Bright provide everything you need to qualify.
Course Structure
- Preparing to teach in the lifelong learning sector (PTLLS)
- Planning and Enabling Learning
- Principles and Practice of Assessment
- Teaching a specialist subject
You need to have evidence of 30 hours of teaching and 3 of those hours are to be observed to be able to complete the CTLLS training. If you already have this system in place where you work, we can use copies of those observational reports. Alternatively we can come out and observe you which is included in the course price.
This course is at level 4, is worth 33 credits and is also the first half of DTLLS.
Course Delivery
The course is delivered through an online learning course (Moodle), consisting of virtual lessons, reading, questions and activities. Each module is covering a different aspect of the course and includes activities.
At the end of each unit there are specified assignments to complete, which are marked and internally moderated.
You will need to keep a log of 30 hours teaching, 3 hours of which will be observed by your mentor, alternatively you can be observed by a qualified colleague in your workplace. There is also a micro teach to attend, these are held locally throughout the UK.
Knowledge of relevant elements of minimum core is embedded within the coursework.
Progression Routes
Once you have completed CTLLS training course, you can apply for Associate Teacher Status (ATLS). Alternatively you can continue training for a further 3 months and do the second half of the Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (DTLLS), which will enable you to be employed in a Full Teacher role and apply for Qualified Teacher Status (QTLS).
Course Length
The total Guided Learning Hours for the CTLLS course is 120 plus 30 hours teaching. This is made up of Moodle, assignments as well as self study. The course length is 3-6 months. However you can complete it in your own pace.
